In this arresting episode of White Shores Theresa is joined by  'Buddhist Businessman' and scientist, Richard Dixey, PhD to discuss the life changing power of devoting just three minutes a day to meditation.

Holding advanced degrees in biophysics and the history and philosophy of science, Richard directed the bioelectronic research unit at a London hospital before becoming CEO of his own biotech company, Phytopharm Plc.  From 2007 onwards he has  devoted himself to deepening his own practice and running the Light of Buddhadharma Foundation in India with his wife Wangmo, the eldest daughter of the well-known Tibetan lama Tarthang Tulku. He is a senior faculty member at Dharma College in Berkeley and divides his time between California and India.

Hi Richard,

You were wonderful!
Thank you so much for being on MISSION: EVOLUTION TV and Radio Show. It was such a pleasure working with you and all you bring.

Wellness author Heather Grzych interviews Richard Dixey about meditation as a fundamental necessity of being human. As a Buddhist teacher with a background as a biotech CEO, Richard discusses why, even though science is very valuable and useful, people are being duped every day into believing that science is the ultimate truth - when it’s actually the status quo. You’ll learn how long is a good time to meditate, and why it’s essential that educated people practice it in today’s world to live a fully human life.

Richard Dixey, PhD offers us useful advice on how to begin incorporating meditation into our daily life, in just three minutes a day!

Women in particular have a tendency to take care of everyone else around them first, while putting their own self care and wellness on the back burner. This podcast is designed to give you actionable advice and tools to help you power up your own wellness journey, and live the best life possible!

Elle Russ chats with Richard Dixey, PhD — a senior faculty member at Dharma College in Berkeley, California. Meditating doesn’t require a pilgrimage to the Himalayas or a remote, tranquil cave.

Contrary to its stereotypical ritual, meditation is not a complex or distant practice; it is an accessible journey that you can embark on even at the comfort of your own home, in just three minutes a day.

Dr. Richard Dixey is a scientist, philosopher, and Buddhist scholar and teacher. He is particularly interested in exploring the interface between scientific and spiritual perspectives, and making the traditional Buddhist teachings accessible and relevant to modern western society. In this conversation, Dr. Dixey and Richard Smoley, editor of Quest: Journal of the Theosophical Society in America will explore Dixey’s three-minute program, the power of Tibetan Buddhism, and the teachings of the influential lama Tarthang Tulku Rinpoche.

When our recent guest, Richard Dixey, was a teenager he began to contemplate the idea that we each individually look at the world our own way. He wondered if there was a correct way to view the world, which may mean all of us are wrong.

Richard doesn't just talk about the power of meditation, he also sheds light on how to effectively practice it. He delves into the different aspects of concentration - adverting and savouring - and how they can enhance our presence and stability….

Welcome to another enriching episode of Inside Personal Growth. Today, I have the pleasure of hosting a distinguished guest whose insights into personal development and well-being are truly illuminating – Richard Dixey.

If you struggle to find a meditative practice that fits your calendar-filled life, this recent conversation I had with the Know Your True Self Podcast host can help.

I hope you'll enjoy this recent conversation I had with 60 Mindful Minutes Podcast host Kristen Manieri about THREE MINUTES A DAY. It delves into the creation of our experiences by our senses, their processing in the brain, and the resulting construction of our worldview.

This is my recent interview with Dr. Richard Shuster, host of The Daily Helping Podcast, about learning to meditate in THREE MINUTES A DAY.

I recently had the pleasure of speaking with Gina Cavalier about my new book THREE MINUTES A DAY on The Liberated Healer Podcast. I hope you'll enjoy the conversation,

"It wasn’t until I read Richard Dixey’s new book THREE MINUTES A DAY that I clearly understood what goes on with meditation exactly . . . Dixey gets inside the process of mind in ways rarely articulated, and with the wisdom of the ancients informing his perspective."

I recently had a wonderful conversation about how a meditation practice of three minutes a day change our lives with radio host Marianne Pestana. Her Moments with Marianne radio show airs in the Southern California area on KMET 1490AM & 98.1 FM, an ABC Talk News Radio Affiliate.

I thoroughly enjoyed this conversation with Side by Side Podcast host Robert Kuang about my new book THREE MINUTES A DAY, which officially launched in the US today.

“If we can learn how reactivity occurs and how we might get a handle on it, we develop resilience, become more flexible, and learn to deal with situations as they are rather than merely reacting to them.” — Richard Dixey, PhD, in Three Minutes a Day

Dear Editor/Producer:

Even as the undeniable benefits of meditation — from focused concentration to better physical health — have become widely recognized, millions of individuals struggle with finding the time to make the practice a regular part of their busy lives.

Enter author and meditation teacher Richard Dixey’s upcoming new book Three Minutes a Day: A Fourteen Week Course to Learn Meditation and Transform Your Life (New World Library, August 8, 2023), which makes a bold claim: in just three minutes a day, for fourteen weeks — less than five hours total — you can establish a regular meditation practice and gain real insight into your experience. The benefits include enhanced creativity, less stress, and the ability to deal with challenges more effectively.

“We are told to ‘attend to the present,’ to ‘be here now,’ to ‘develop mindful awareness,’” writes Dixey. “Somehow the simple act of sitting quietly and watching something, normally the breath, brings all these benefits. But why? And how? In this book, I attempt to answer these questions and present a selection of short but effective meditation practices that relate to the answers.”

The exercises and weekly teachings outlined in Three Minutes a Day are designed to build meditation into a rewarding and instinctive part of everyday life. They combine wisdom teachings from ancient traditions with contemporary scientific research and create insightful explorations into what happens in the mind during meditation. The key is becoming aware of your inner experience so that the mind’s relentless reactivity, which can be such a source of stress, can be transformed through calm awareness.

Three Minutes a Day offers a series of short exercises, laid out simply and clearly, that build sequentially in a fourteen-week program. The book also includes:

  • straightforward visualizations and explorations of sensation that help readers achieve shamata (calmness) and vipassana (the ability to see clearly) through settled awareness

  • Q&A sections after each exercise that provide opportunities for further clarity and understanding

  • summaries at the end of each short chapter covering the techniques discussed to relieve stress, tension, and anxiety

  • a free app for iPhone and Android to enable readers to take their meditation anywhere

“Meditation is a useful, perhaps even essential, element of self-exploration, a practice that can develop a reliable foundation for both subjective knowledge and emotional resilience,” writes Dixey. “I hope that some of the readers of this book will embark on it, as it is a rich and fulfilling practice that can quietly enhance journaling, prayer, contemplation, or any other element of a life well lived.”
